1. Cape Le Grand National Park

Beaches with squeaky snow-white sand, turquoise water and granite peaks. Cape Le Grand National Park is a gorgeous place to explore. Visit the kangaroos at Lucky Bay and go for a swim at Hellfire Bay. There’re two campsites here accessible by car. Just call ahead to make sure that they’re not full.

2. Climb Frenchman’s Peak

Frenchmans Peak

This is a fantastic 3km hike (literally) up a rock. It can be difficult and the sign recommends 2 hours to complete the trail. The views from the top on a clear day are incredible so make sure you bring your camera with you!

3. Twilight Beach

Just out of Esperance, this iconic beach is one that you have to visit. Not only is it beautiful, it’s a fantastic place to relax and go swimming. There’s also a boulder just of the beach which makes for some great climbing and rock jumping.

4. Great Ocean Drive

The great ocean Drive is Western Australia’s version of Victoria’s Great Ocean road and offers fantastic views of the coastline around Esperance. Make sure that you stop at Observatory Point.
You’ll also have the chance to see the famous Pink Lake (Which, unfortunately, isn’t pink at the moment)

5. Lucky Bay Brewing

Every town needs to have a local brewery like this one. Drop in for a brewery tour and have a taste of Esperance’s local beer. You won’t be disappointed!

6. Get a photo at the Esperance Whale Tail

An icon on the foreshore that you’ll have to take a selfie with, just to prove that you’ve been to Esperance. If you’re game, see how high you can climb up it.

7. Explore Esperance Museum

This is an interesting little museum that shares the social and economic history of Esperance with all sorts of historic memorabilia. General History, Agriculture, Maritime and even Space artefacts are all on display here.

8. Cape Arid National Park

Three hours east of Esperance, this is a great place to explore and camp if you’re in a 4wd. You’ll find Pristine beaches and spectacular coastlines in a remote part of the Western Australian Coast. Come well prepared, you might be the only ones out here in this beautiful and peaceful part of the world.

9. Stokes Bay National Park

Stokes Bay is 80kms west of Esperance and worth dropping in to check out Stokes Inlet, Skippy Rock, Shoal Cape, the Moir Homestead Ruins and Fanny Cove. There’s a 2wd accessible campground here and plenty of hiking and fishing adventures to be pursued.

10. Go on a 4×4 Tour

If you have a 4×4, they’re great adventures to be had driving along the beaches just out of Esperance. Head down to Wylie Bay and try driving over the granite hill or take a track off the beach into the sand dunes.
